Membership, booking, pricing, and how Collective Space works with Collective Earth.
How do I join Collective Space?
Start with Apply to join on this site. Tell us about your work, what you need from the space, and your timing. We review applications personally and follow up by email — often with a short call or tour. Once approved, you complete membership on Collective Earth (our booking platform), including the current member agreement.
What is Collective Earth, and do I need it?
Collective Earth is the member platform behind booking, billing, and your account. Collective Space is the public website and physical hub. Approved members sign in on Collective Earth to reserve desks, offices, and rooms. You do not need Collective Earth just to browse events or contact us.
How much does membership cost?
Digital membership is $20/month through Collective Earth. That unlocks member booking rates for coworking, private offices, and The Big Room. Drop-in and part-time plans are listed on our pricing section — shared office from about $120/month for one day per week, private offices and room rentals at tiered rates. We will help you choose a plan that fits.
How do I book a desk or room?
After you are approved and have an active membership, use Member login to open Collective Earth. From there you can book Shared Office desks, private offices, and The Big Room according to your plan. Public visitors can browse spaces here on collectivespace.org; booking requires membership.
Can I drop in without a monthly office plan?
Yes — many members use drop-in or part-time plans. Shared office drop-in is $30/day (or $20/half day). Private office and Big Room drop-in rates are on the pricing page. Confirm availability before your first visit; we are happy to help by email or phone.
What spaces are at Collective Space HQ?
At our Duncan HQ you will find open coworking (Shared Office with bookable desks), private offices, and The Big Room for workshops, film, gatherings, and events. Photos and descriptions on the homepage and spaces pages stay synced with what members can actually book.
What is the member agreement?
The member agreement is the terms you accept when joining — community conduct, shared-space care, fees, and liability. The current published version is always shown on Our Agreement on this site. When you join through Collective Earth, you agree to that same current version.
Can I host a public event at Collective Space?
Members can book The Big Room and other spaces for gatherings. Some bookings appear as public events on this website so the community can discover them. Use Contact organizer on an event listing to reach the host — or contact us if you want to explore hosting.
What about Impact Advocacy and the incubator?
Impact Advocacy highlights nonprofits and campaigns we support in the valley. The Collective Space Incubator (C.S.I.) offers coaching, mentorship, and workspace for social enterprises and community projects. Both are open to explore on this site; incubator applications are welcome year-round.
What local discounts do members get?
Members can access wholesale and trade pricing from Cowichan Valley businesses — electrical, plumbing, supplies, wellness, and more — plus discounts offered by fellow members. The homepage shows a preview; after you join, sign in on Collective Earth under Local discounts for full details and how to redeem each offer.
How do I get a tour or talk to someone?
Use Contact us or call 250-597-4444. We offer a free 15-minute call to discuss your needs. For membership questions, info@collectivespace.org is the best email.
I am not in Duncan — is Collective Space close to me?
Very likely. Our hub is in downtown Duncan, about 10 minutes from Maple Bay and Cowichan Bay, 20 minutes from Chemainus, Crofton, and Lake Cowichan, 20–25 minutes from Shawnigan Lake, Mill Bay, and Cobble Hill, and about 30 minutes from Ladysmith. There is all-day parking across the street, so dropping in from anywhere in the Cowichan Valley is easy.
